Discover NOIRMaterials
What is inside a bottle.
A fragrance brings together dozens of materials. They come from three worlds.
Click a material on the table: every material has a story.
Natural materials
Drawn from flowers, woods, resins and peels: by steam distillation, by cold-pressing for citrus, by extraction for the most fragile flowers.
Molecules
Created by chemistry, they give smells no plant yields and replace animal materials, such as musk, that perfumery has abandoned.
Accords
Several materials assembled to evoke another. Leather, oud or wet stone cannot be extracted: they are recreated.

The time of a fragrance
A fragrance unfolds in three movements.
Materials do not evaporate at the same speed. On the skin, a fragrance therefore changes from hour to hour.
Top
The first minutes. The lightest materials — citrus, fresh spices — fly off first.
Heart
The character of the fragrance. Flowers, warm spices and resins take over.
Base
What remains. Woods, balsams, ambers and musks, the heaviest materials, linger the longest.
Indicative durations: they vary with concentration, skin and temperature.
